Alien Ant Farm Unleash New Single “Gaslighter” Ahead Of Upcoming Album And Tour Dates

More than two decades after breaking into the mainstream, Alien Ant Farm keeps pushing forward with new music, and their latest single takes aim at a subject that many listeners know all too well.

The multi-platinum rock band has released “Gaslighter,” a new single with an official music video through Judge & Jury Records. The track confronts dishonesty, manipulation, and the emotional damage caused by toxic relationships, bringing those experiences into the band’s signature alternative rock sound.

The release also offers another preview of Alien Ant Farm’s forthcoming studio album, currently expected in 2027, as the group prepares for several upcoming performances across the United States, United Kingdom, and Ireland.

For a band that first gained international attention in the early 2000s, Alien Ant Farm has continued finding ways to connect their recognizable sound with new material. “Gaslighter” combines aggressive guitar work, melodic vocals, and lyrics that comfort people who are being manipulated by those closest to them.

Alien Ant Farm Confront Toxic Relationships On “Gaslighter”

At its core, “Gaslighter” addresses the frustration of recognizing dishonesty in someone you trust. The song explores how manipulation can gradually erode relationships, especially when someone repeatedly attempts to distort the truth or convince another person that their experiences are invalid.

Alien Ant Farm approaches the subject with a guitar driven arrangement that draws inspiration from the heavier side of alternative rock. Vocalist Dryden Mitchell cites Audioslave and Rage Against the Machine as influences behind the track’s direction.

“With hints of Audioslave and Rage Against the Machine, we wrote a razor-edged gem that calls out the liars and manipulators in our lives,” Mitchell explains.

Those influences connect to the band’s earlier work. Alien Ant Farm has always blended alternative metal, funk rock, and melodic songwriting, helping distinguish the group from many of its contemporaries during the early 2000s. With “Gaslighter,” the band returns to a heavier guitar-oriented approach while keeping the songwriting focused on an experience that extends well beyond the music itself.

The lyrics address the uncertainty of dealing with someone who constantly changes the narrative, eventually shifting toward recognizing the manipulation and refusing to accept it. That transition gives “Gaslighter” a message of standing up for yourself and moving forward after a damaging relationship.

The Meaning Behind “Gaslighter” And Its Original Concept

Interestingly, “Gaslighter” began with a different title and concept. According to Mitchell, the original idea revolved around coded communication and the difficulty of understanding someone who refuses to be honest.

He became interested in Native American military code talkers who used Indigenous languages to transmit messages during World War I and World War II. That historical connection eventually inspired a comparison to trying to understand someone who deliberately hides the truth.

Mitchell initially developed the song under the working title “Code Talker,” before producer Howard Benson suggested the more direct title “Gaslighter.” The change sharpened the central message.

Mitchell revisited the lyrics to make the subject more immediately recognizable, concentrating on the emotional manipulation and confusion that can happen when someone repeatedly denies the truth.

The finished song also continues Alien Ant Farm’s collaboration with Judge & Jury Records and its production team. The label’s creative network includes Benson, whose credits include My Chemical Romance, Papa Roach, and Skillet, alongside Neil Sanderson of Three Days Grace, Mike Plotnikoff, and Joe Rickard.

“Gaslighter” was also co written with producer Gavin Brown, whose previous work includes songs by Three Days Grace and Skillet.

The collaboration gives Alien Ant Farm access to a team experienced in modern rock production while allowing the band to maintain the musical identity that helped establish its career.

“Gaslighter” Will Also Appear In New Rhythm Game Stage Tour

Beyond the single and accompanying video, Alien Ant Farm is introducing “Gaslighter” to another audience through an upcoming video game.

The song will be featured in Stage Tour, a new rhythm action game developed by RedOctane Games, the company associated with the original Guitar Hero franchise. Scheduled for release on December 10, 2026, Stage Tour aims to bring the guitar-based rhythm gaming experience to a new generation of players.

The game is planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.

Its announced features include more than 90 licensed songs spanning six decades of music, over 180 unlockable Gibson, Epiphone, and Kramer guitars, and more than 50 selectable bandmates.

The soundtrack brings together a wide variety of rock and metal artists, including Metallica, Slipknot, Megadeth, Ghost, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Paramore, Muse, Mötley Crüe, Radiohead, Static-X, and Avril Lavigne.

For Alien Ant Farm, having “Gaslighter” included alongside those artists creates another opportunity for listeners to discover the band’s newer material.

Rhythm games played a major role in introducing rock and metal music to younger audiences during the 2000s, particularly through franchises such as Guitar Hero and Rock Band.

With Stage Tour attempting to revive that experience, Alien Ant Farm’s inclusion connects the band’s early-2000s legacy with a new generation of music gaming.

Alien Ant Farm Continues Building Toward A New Album

“Gaslighter” is another step toward Alien Ant Farm’s next studio album, expected in 2027. The band has already been introducing new music, including “Bad Attitude” and “Reasons,” establishing momentum ahead of the forthcoming project.

Alien Ant Farm’s catalog stretches back to the late 1990s, although the group achieved its biggest commercial breakthrough with its 2001 album ANThology. That record introduced a much wider audience to the band’s distinctive blend of alternative rock, metal, and funk.

Their interpretation of Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal” became one of the defining alternative rock hits of the early 2000s, while original songs including “Movies” and “Attitude” helped demonstrate that the group had much more to offer.

The band followed with albums including truANT, Up in the Attic, and Always and Forever, continuing to experiment with its sound over the years.

With “Gaslighter,” Alien Ant Farm is once again working toward another chapter in its discography.

The new material also arrives as the band celebrates the 25th anniversary of ANThology, giving longtime fans an opportunity to revisit the music that helped establish the group while looking ahead to its next release.
