It’s safe to say that the band Weezer has reached icon status after three-plus decades of rockstar relevance and a staple in festivals, arenas, and stadiums around the world. The Los Angeles natives are gracing the Bumbershoot main stage August 30, so we can all sing along to “Beverly Hills,” “The Sweater Song,” “Say it Ain’t So,” and “Island in the Sun.” Weezer might have the best category of karaoke songs I’ve ever seen now that we’re on the subject. That’s a real drunk sing-along Hall of Fame lineup if you ask me.

Bright Eyes is another alternative rock band I wouldn’t miss on Saturday. Not to mention TezaTalks and the Budos Band rounding out a jam-packed Saturday.
Frankie and the Witch Fingers are a psych-punk band that also hail from Los Angeles; they certainly should earn a spot on your Sunday festival planner. The Murder City Devils are holding down the Seattle punk scene on Sunday as well. Don’t miss two independent legends in the making, Saba and Vika and the Velvets.
Saturday with Weezer will run you $142, while the entire weekend costs $252. There are deluxe single-day and weekend passes that include parking, VIP entrances, and a few other perks as well. The best deal to get in, though, will be through the BumberParty Pass, which is a 4-day pass to both Capitol Hill Block Party in July and Bumbershoot in August. At $378, you’re getting four festival days for less than $100 a day, and that is a banging deal in this economy.
This year’s art installations will bring together a diverse range of artists at the Seattle Center. This year’s themes are Fashion District, Recess District, Vanishing Seattle, and a Comedy Coop. There will be multiple locations of Geodesic Domes themed as The Witch Temple, Pole Dancing Pavilion, and Cat Circus. And there will be free-range artists roaming the campus both days as well.
