Ice Nine Kills (INK), the official metal ambassadors of the horror movie genre will again take over Worcester, Pennsylvania with the Silver Scream Con IV. Silver Scream Con is the band’s annual celebration of all things horror and metal, a place where all of the psychos (a term of endearment for the band’s legion of loyal fans) gather to celebrate the year’s best releases in the genres. Worcester’s DCU Center will play host September, 12-14, 2025. Think of the Silver Scream Con like Comic Con meets Sick New World, it’s a one-part trade show, one-part metal festival, and one-part convention.
It’s an event that spawned out of INK’s unique connection between two subcultures of entertainment, horror movies and metalcore music. Metal music and horror movies have always had a strong connection thanks to people like Rob Zombie and Slipknot’s cast of on-stage characters come to mind. INK took that connection to the next level by creating two albums dedicated to every major horror icon and movie imaginable. Ghostface to Michael Meyers, Jason Vorhees, Chucky, Evil Dead, Resident Evil, Hostel, the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Candyman, and many more.
INK took something that could have easily been a gimmick and elevated it into some of the best and most unique fan service in pop culture. A true blend of horror and metal, the music stands alone without the source material but is wildly enhanced once you get the references. Their music videos are homages to movies like The Crow and Pet Cemetary, adding another layer of horror iconography to their discography.
This is music that is unique, but at the same time, wildly reminiscent of the films and characters that made us psychos fall in love with horror movies in the first place. Wrapped up in the bloody screams and energetic metal riffs is a sense of nostalgia that the lovely psychos chase down at the Silver Scream Con each year.
Ice Nine Kills x Terrifier 3 – “A Work of Art” (Official Music Video)
Ice Nine Kills arguably had their most high-profile year in 2024 with the Terrifier 3 collaboration that birthed “A Work of Art”, the official music video for Damien Leone’s cult classic slasher trilogy. This music video made the band’s unofficial stewardship of the genre incredibly official. They also supported Metallica on their worldwide M72 world tour including a stop in Mexico City.
Over the years horror legends like Evil Dead’s Bruce Campbell and the Candyman himself Tony Todd (RIP) have been introduced to INK’s musical renditions of their work and it was met with nothing but gratitude. Campbell even said that the song should be featured in a future Evil Dead, something that seems much more realistic after the clear success “A Work of Art” and Terrifier 3 shared last year.
Tickets for this year’s Silver Scream Con are available now. Information on dates, lodging, and any logistical information you need on the event is available at silverscreamcon.com. More information will be released in the future about INK’s potential performance coinciding with the convention.
