This Valentine’s Staycation with Mimi Cave‘s “Fresh” will include some festive lovey dovey drinks to sip on (and get “inda-couch”) with your hopefully hot date for a fun night in. After watching the psycho-thriller Fresh I was happy to have seen a good movie, but even happier I watched it stoned.
When it comes to late night movie selections, I love an all-star cast, but I can’t get enough of films that introduce talent and performances I have not seen before. Even then, Fresh is a horror thriller, and if you weren’t expecting to throw this flick on for your personal hallmark holiday this February 14th, at least it isn’t too off theme! Plus, not a bad movie to put on if you need the women to have full circle story arches without being killed off and dying for dumb reasons (or no reason at all).
Staycation “In-da-couch”
Indica flower is all about feeling the high in your whole body, and if you get anxious while watching thrillers with unexpected twists, I may have some suggestions and personal favorites I would love to share:
Grape Ape is a mostly indica strain that crosses Mendocino Purps, Skunk, and Afghani. It’s named for its distinct grape-like smell. Most importantly, Grape Ape is known for providing carefree relaxation that can help soothe pain, stress, and anxiety.
Skunk (aka Skunk #1) is a hybrid marijuana strain that has influenced cannabis on a global scale, using diverse genetics from around the world; Afghani, Acapulco Gold, and Colombian Gold varieties.
Alcapulco Gold is the strain that comes from the area in and around Acapulco, Mexico. The orange hairs resemble a gold nugget with gold, green, and brown colors and plenty of resin on the buds. It’s becoming more rare, and has been grown and cultivated since the 1960s.
Gelato is an evenly-balanced hybrid marijuana strain made from a crossing of Sunset Sherbet and Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies. Other names for this strain are “Gelato #42″ and “Larry Bird.”
Sunset Sherbert is an indica-dominant hybrid marijuana strain made by crossing Girl Scout Cookies with Pink Panties. Sunset Sherbert is also known as “Sherbert“, “Sherbet”, “Sherbert OG”, “Sunset Sherbet.” This strain was originally bred by Mr. Sherbinski, who bred Sherbert, lots of different Gelato, and more. Check out Sherbinski’s interview with RespectMyRegion‘s Mitch Pfeifer.
Weed Tea and High Tea
All sorts of different weed tea recipes are out there, but I don’t mind keeping it simple for my guests and myself. The most important part is decarboxylating the cannabis.
According to an article written my Ben Hartman:
“Decarboxylation is a long word to describe the simple process in which heating up weed converts the cannabinoid THCA to THC, thus making it so that you can get high…To decarboxylate, simply heat up your oven to 220-245°F (105-120°C) and place some ground cannabis on a cookie sheet and bake it for around 40 minutes.”
Method to the Madness
There are so many methods to make this delicious beverage:
- Put cannabutter, cannabis infused oil, or tincture directly into your freshly brewed cup of tea.
- Weed Stems are also effective, just a tad more weed-flavored. Cannigma.com states “Take a few grams of ground up weed stems (about a tablespoon) and then decarboxylate in the oven. Then either put them in a tea bag or tea steeper (or a coffee filter) and steep in a piping hot mug of water for about 7 to 10 minutes.”
- Cannabis infused sweeteners have come a long way, and that includes my personal go to, weed infused honey. Delectable and really delicious way to hide the bitter herb taste.
- Last but not the least bit exciting of a suggestion: Making Iced Tea! You go about the process like you would regular iced tea, but your weed is gonna in your infused sweetener of choice. It can be cannabis infused sugar, or infused honey. The more you put, the higher you will be.
A lovely valentine’s staycation with Mimi Cave’s “Fresh” for two, but also very enjoyable as a party of one. Have a safe and happy Valentine’s Day, and don’t forget to let loved ones know where you are when going to new places to meet new people.
