A couple months ago I wrote an article called “Local Artists You Should Know But Don’t” and Zuke Saga was mentioned as “The Legend.” Why? Because he’s one of those “I’m so glad I found him” type of artists.
It’s been two years since he dropped a project on major streaming servers and he did not disappoint with this latest release.
This time around Zuke Saga delivers a care package tilted “ANGEL COUGHS“. If you’re a fan of Saga you should know very well about his abstract titles he chooses. The entire project is produced by producer Erick Grady and features a single feature from J’Von who are both apart of the Empty Planet Collective.
WHY LISTEN?
Track one “Ashby Flows” pretty much sets the tone in typical Zuke fashion. With production from Grady, Saga skates around the beat with multiple flows and a consistent tone. J’Von opens up the track with a quick statement about consistency, then proceeds to do what he does best, rap. Zuke Saga delivers a quick verse to back J’von up as he goes to finish off the song.
ANGEL COUGHS shines in multiple ways. The rapping style of Saga and production from Grady definitely grabs the attention of people with an appreciation for artist like Madlib, Nas, Kendrick, MF Doom, any other lyrical based rapper, or Lo-Fi fans.
There is only 6 songs and the longest song is just under three minutes long. Play this project while you study, drive or just if you need something to vibe with. Make sure you give it an undistracted listen at least once to catch the bars.
