Ember Valley operates out of Shasta County and grows exotic flavors like Ice Cream Cake, Sundae Driver, and Wedding Pie. Their Zookies strain is a cross between GG#4 and Animal Cookies, but unfortunately, it left me wanting more coming from California, which has set its own lofty standards for cannabis genetics.
The flower itself looks beautiful. It boasts spectacular triangular grow structures, bold purple highlights, and dense texture. A coat of shiny trichomes wraps around hairs that standout like traffic cones on a dark freeway. There are some pleasant minty gas aromas, but nothing memorable. The smoke was smooth and earthy.
The Zookies strain hit me with a heavy head high, doing right by its indica label. I was quite sleepy after smoking a couple of bowls post-workout, so this strain is best left alone until the workday is done.
There was nothing wrong with this strain, there wasn’t anything particularly great about it either. While I enjoyed aspects of the Zookies strain, it just doesn’t match the firepower of other top-shelf cultivars coming out of California right now. However, if you’re looking for something high in caryophyllene, limonene, or humulene, Zookies flower and concentrates are something to look out for.
