Young Neves has been quietly putting in work these last several months dropping a number tracks that have garnered notable attention from major players in the game. That’s not to exclude a fan favorite of his, “Comeback,“ that we featured back in February of 2020. He was also featured July 9th on a show with Calboy and BFB Da Packman in Phoenix, Az; another major stepping stone in his career.
Neves’ latest track “Time Will Tell” is reminiscent of those mid-2000’s Drake and Dizzy Wright vibes. Telling a story over a soulful R&B type beat as he raps in his signature clear cadence. Being almost punctual with every word letting you know he has something to say and he wants you to hear it.
The video for “Time Will Tell” was shot in Hawaii and features Neves in various scenery rapping to the camera. No overly-flashy jewelry or other hip-hop video clichés, just him and his words.
The production on “Time Will Tell” makes you think of a slowed down version of Drake’s “Tuscan Leather.” With Neves even hitting a similar flow but adding his own unique inflexion.
My favorite bar, “Work with my demons but the Lord the only thing that I’m fearing. They talking who hot in the hood? Lets not get to comparin’.” Quick and simple but there’s a lot packed into those lines that show a lot of maturity and self reflection in Neves that translates to his music.
