XXL’s Freshman Class 2012

The cover of XXL’s Freshman Class 2012 magazine was released today, and it has none other then Seattle’s own Macklemore on the cover. Want to give a big congratulations to him, and a thanks for helping put Seattle hip-hop music on the map!

XXL’s Freshman Class always comes with a lot of controversy and this year is no different. The thing I find interesting about the way they choose these artists is that it is based heavily on votes from the people. This means that if you have your fan base vote for you and you have a good following, you could easily find yourself on the cover. This is part of the reason I don’t understand the controversy because the fans helped put those people on the cover. Rumor has it that a few people also turned down the cover this year, which is an interesting side story. I’m glad Macklemore made the cover though, it proves that the Northwest has some great stuff happening in it, and we are all along for the ride.
