Michigan’s Marijuana Regulatory Agency recently shut down a testing facility after forging results. The state suspended the license of Iron Labs out of Walled Lake. Before Iron Labs had their license suspended testing labs were already in high demand for the state of Michigan.
The report from the Marijuana Regulatory Agency cited failing to report contaminants allowed according to state guidelines. Failed tests must be uploaded into a state-monitored system. Iron Labs also failed to report edibles that tested higher than the allowed limits for THC. They also failed to report the presence of mold on two batches of cannabis that had already failed the same tests at a different lab.
The reason for Marijuana Regulatory Agency filing the complaint is unknown. No reports of patients using products tested by Iron Labs and experiencing adverse reactions have been found. Due to the current investigation, authorities cannot reveal how much of the states medical cannabis supply was tested by this lab.
While in the process of renewing their license that expired on August 9th the regulatory agency for the state of Michigan suspended operations at Iron Labs. They had been operating as a testing facility for the last 8 years. With recreational cannabis dispensaries potentially opening in 2020, the state will need more testing labs.
