Bumping, badass, swinging, flowing and just straight vibing. These are all words you could use to describe the newest project from Vince Staples. Seven years after his first EP, we’re looking at a formidable self-titled full-length release here. This album came out last week, and several of the tracks from it are already taking over Vince’s top ten.
The album has some quirky beats, dampened samples, but a varied tracklist overall. Songs like THE SHINING fall closer to 2010’s trap rap, whereas LAW OF AVERAGES has big Injury Reserve energy. Vince Staples is exploring a variety of facets in his own sound and the whole product becomes a standalone vibe as a result.
Tracks from this title release fit great in any chillout hip-hop playlist. Staples has mastered a method of being a total hype generator in his songs, while keeping the greater mood super chill. Control meets confidence in the album Vince Staples.

Vince Staples
Compton-born, Long Beach-raised Cutthroat Boyz rapper Vincent Jamal Staples has been all over. After moving out of Compton, he attended several different schools over the years. Not coming from a lavish background highlights the profoundness of his success even more.
Staples met Dijon “LaVish” Samo, who took him along to Los Angeles. There, he got to meet Syd the Kid, Earl Sweatshirt and Mike G from Odd Future. This opportunity evolved over the years and eventually brought Vince to the big stage he rightfully earned.
Now, finally releasing a self-titled album after all this time, is an undeniable milestone for Vince. It wouldn’t be the case, however, if the album wasn’t pure gold; which, fortunately for you, it is.
