UFC Vegas 95 inside the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, featured top ten ranked European heavyweights Serghei Spivac and Marcin Tybura, settling the score in a rematch over five rounds.
UFC Vegas 95’s main event showcased top ten heavyweights crossing paths for the second time as No. 9-ranked Serghei Spivac (17-4-0) secured a slick first round armbar submission victory over No. 8-ranked Marcin Tybura (25-9-0).
UFC Vegas 95 Main Event: Marcin Tybura vs. Serghei Spivac 2
These two gigantic European heavyweights initially squared off in February 2020, with Tybura winning the three-round bout via decision.
However, Spivac was a lot more seasoned as a mixed martial artist this time and grew into his heavyweight frame.
The fight opened with both men taking the center of the octagon. Spivac showcased instant improvement in his striking as he led the dance in exchanges until eventually securing a takedown.
This takedown attempt would fail as the seasoned veteran Tybura reversed the position and took to the top position in Spivac’s Guard.
From there, Tybura kept the top position until Spivac ended up slickly locking up an armbar that ended the fight.
Result: Spivac via Submission (Armbar) R1
After the fight, Spivac took to the microphone and stated his desire to fight anyone above him in the rankings. Spivac was called out by fellow skilled heavyweight grappler Jailton Almeida after the fight.

UFC Vegas 95 Co-main Event: Damon Jackson vs. Chepe Mariscal
UFC Vegas 95’s co-main event featured unranked featherweights Chepe Mariscal (17-6-0, 1NC) and Damon Jackson (23-7-1, 1NC) facing off over three rounds.
Mariscal missed weight in this fight and agreed to forfeit 20% of his purse to Jackson.
That said, Mariscal dominated Jackson in this three-round matchup as he bludgeoned him from pillar to post with heavy punches.
Mariscal not only dominated Jackson in the striking department but also in the grappling, as he was able to manhandle the taller and longer featherweight throughout the fight.
Mariscal scored two 10-8 rounds in this fight, which shows just how dominant he was inside the cage.
Following UFC Vegas 95, Mariscal is now on an impressive 7-fight win streak, hinting at a promising future for him in the featherweight division.
Result: Mariscal via Decision (30-25, 30-25, 30-26)
Danny Barlow vs. Nikolay Veretennikov
Undefeated welterweight prospect Danny Barlow (9-0-0) kept his record intact at UFC Vegas 95 by defeating Kazakhstan’s Nikolay Veretennikov (12-5-0) via decision.
Expectations needed to be met in this welterweight striker’s matchup as Barlow and Veretennikov failed to engage in the cage’s center fully.
Barlow seemed very tentative, as opposed to his typical approach, as the puncher remained composed and selective with his shots.
Veretennikov did not help this either, as he failed to throw caution to the wind and genuinely look for the striking range early on in this three-rounder.
Barlow was able to knick the first two rounds purely off activity, which forced Veretennikov to fight with urgency come the closing round.
In this round, Veretennikov consistently closed the distance and landed clean punches on a tired Barlow. However, this late effort was not enough, as Barlow was able to make it to a victorious decision nod on the scorecards.
Result: Barlow via Decision (29-28, 29-28, 27-30)
