A billion streams might seem trivial in the internet era, but there still aren’t too many artists to generate those numbers. Tyler, the Creator is among the select few to have broken through as he is now enjoying a new milestone in his career.
The Southern California native’s 2017 collaboration with Kali Uchis, “See You Again,” hit a billion listens on Spotify this past weekend. The Flower Boy hit marked a stark shift in Tyler’s style, ushering in a more colorful and versatile phase in his career that he continues to build on today.

“Thank you to all ears,” Tyler wrote on his Instagram Story regarding the colossal achievement.
The two albums that followed Flower Boy established a new chapter in Tyler’s career. As he moved further and further away from the shock value of his Odd Future days, the Los Angeles rapper distinguished himself as a one-of-a-kind talent in music and fashion alike.
Today, he is broadly recognized as one of the most unique figures in hip-hop and beyond, and his mass appeal today traces back to his 2017 rebrand. Though Tyler, the Creator was immensely popular prior to that as well, Flower Boy and “See You Again” saw him attract fans of all genres and sounds.
Joining the Elite Club of a Billion Streams
Tyler is now a part of an elite club of hip-hop and R&B artists to have accumulated over a billion streams on one platform alone. He now stands shoulder-to-shoulder with J. Cole, Eminem and the Weeknd, among many others.
Last year, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg’s West Coast classic, “Still D.R.E.,” enjoyed success of the same caliber, so to have Tyler in the same airspace as the two legends speaks to his brilliance.
