Twogether Land Day One
Leading up to the headliners of the night R&B royalty Tink, and Dru Hill hit the stage to deliver some of the most memorable performances of the weekend. Dru Hill is currently celebrating their 25th anniversary. Their set included every member that was ever apart of the successful R&B group. They performed memorable hits like Beauty, In My Bed, and These Are The Times. Fans of all ages were singing their hearts out as they took us on a trip down memory lane.
While music acts were performing on the TwoGether land stage, the TGL live stage featured live podcasts episodes. Dear Fathers, Smooth Vega, Storytime with Legendary Jerry, and Lip Service with Angela Yee hit the panel for day one. They discussed topics regarding the growth of the music industry, relationships, and everyday problems most people go through. As the night began to set at fair park, the excitement started to build of what’s to come.
Three Six Mafia kicked off the headliners of the night. They would perform hits like Who Run It, Stay Fly, and Tear Da Club Up ’97. Gucci Mane followed suit, bringing the Atlanta vibes to Dallas. You could hear the crowd screaming word for word as he performed Wasted, Lemonade, Freaky Gurl, among more. Following his performance Memphis legend Key Glock hit the stage.
His set design was intriguing. It featured a sloped platform that had various strobe lights making the stage look futuristic. Throughout his set he’d go on to perform a variation of new unreleased songs and bangers like Mr Glock, Let’s Go, and Ambition For Cash. To conclude day one there was one act fans patiently waiting to see.
Summer Walker
R&B singer Summer Walker graced the stage to end night one. Her all white set which featured candles, rotating platforms, and special guest’s, was a treat for fans to see. She performed songs off her successful debut album Over It which included Over it, Body, Girls Need Love, and more. During an outfit change she brung out her first guest of the night, Tink. She would perform her smash hit Treat Me Like Somebody and fans were in awe as they recited the lyrics word for word. Her other guest of the night was Dallas native 4Batz.
This was 4Batz first ever festival performance as he is still one of the growing names in the music business. He performed his popular track act ii: date 8. After his performance he gifted Summer a Louis Vuitton bag that complimented her outfit she was wearing. Summer went on to finish out her set to end off an electric day one. Day two started off stormy.
Day Two
With thunderstorms happening over the night causing damages to the site, the festival had to push back set times. Gates opened at 1:30pm and performances kicked off at 2pm. Akeem Ali and Maeta kicked off things off. Following them Amerie took us back to the early 2000’s performing Why don’t we fall in love, Talkin’ To Me, among more.
Before getting to the headliners of the day Mariah the Scientist, Bay Bay Set, and That Mexican OT graced the stage. That Mexican OT had the crowd ready to lift him up to crowd surf as he came down to party with them for the beginning of his set.
For the night cap of the final day of performances The Dream was the first to perform. Fair park sounded like a big karaoke night as the crowd started screaming the lyrics to Falsetto, and Rockin’ That Thing. Jeezy also graced the stage and gave us a performance like no other. making us feel like we were in the closing scene of Janky Promoters.
The last two performances of TwoGether Land came from Latto and arguably the greatest rapper of all time, Lil Wayne.
Lil Wayne
Latto gave the crowd the energy they needed to finish out the night. She came through with a team of dancers and they had the stage rocking, performing Issa Party, Muwop, and her smash hit Put It On Da Floor Again.
Lil Wayne’s performance felt like a gamer when he gets to the final boss level. All the excitement and build up of the weekend to that moment, felt released as he walked on stage. The biggest act of the festival came and most certainly delivered in Dallas. Something that stood out was his appreciation of the crowd after every song, thanking them each time before proceeding.
He would perform a vast majority of his Carter III album. The album has sold over 8 million copies and won a Grammy award for best rap album. Songs he performed included Mr Carter, Mrs. Officer, Lollipop, A Milli, among more. The night was special and fans have still been raving about the time they had listening to Tunechi.
