Respect My Region welcomes in Topp to chat and smoke it up for episode 2 of our interview series. Topp is someone we’ve steadily kept our eye on and stayed tapped-in with as his career has grown in the PNW. His music takes on a unique, almost weird perspective that’s no different from his personality. Always fun-loving and kind, Topp is a fairly stoic dude and typically a man of few words. But, get him on the topic of something he’s passionate about and he’ll go more than in-depth. You can tell he sees more than the basic surface level clues that mass media wants you to think are important or fact.
In episode 2 we talked about the basics, of course. We went over Topp’s life and what it was like growing with his dad who was a big figure in the Tri-Cities music scene at the time. Then we dove right into the deep end, going into George Soros and his connection with Black Lives Matter. Topp gave his thoughts on what he thinks needs to happen and really gives a new perspective on everything that’s going on in our world.
Topp doesn’t believe what he says is what should happen exactly. He just hopes he can provide some new context and ideologies that will really get people creating action for a change and not settling for just a “movement.” He is not alone in this thinking. In a 2016 interview with Lord Jamar on VladTv, he expresses and explains why he doesn’t like the BLM movement, stating “it’s not our [the Black community] movement.” Dive deeper into the mind of Topp and catch his wavy freestyle over a beat he also produced below.
