After nearly a three-year wait, the certified bop maker, Tobi Lou, has finally fully released his highly anticipated album Non-Perishable. Fans have been talking about the album over social media all week as the anticipation reached an all-time high. With features from Jean Deaux, CHIKA, and the legendary T-Pain, this album is possibly the best project to date for the “Buff Baby” rapper.

As part of the rollout, Tobi Lou released a few singles off Non-Perishable to hold fans over while waiting for the entire album’s release. The first release was “WIDE Open” in September of 2021. It is one of Tobi’s slower vibes with a simple yet catchy hook and infectious melodic beat. Additionally, the second teaser release came just a few days ago with “Hopeless Romantic,” kicking off the final step of the album rollout. The song slaps with a different energy level, giving off a flex and finesse vibe on the track. In short, Tobi talks his shit over a future synth-type beat, and it goes hard.

With 11 total tracks on the album, Non-Perishable shows a new side of Tobi Lou, and we are all here for it. You can see a transition in his persona to “a force to be reckoned with” instead of the fun and goofy Uber driver we once knew. Likewise, he’s traded out his puffy buns for some Dr. Robotnik-esque shades.
Of course, we will always have our vibey-bops from Tobi that first drew us all in. “She Know My Name,” which was also released before the full album dropped, is an excellent example of that OG “8702” style. One of my favorite tracks off the album is easily “2hrs+” because of how incredible T-Pain and Tobi Lou sound together. Growing up and getting into hip-hop at a younger age like I did, T-Pain was the top dog, and to this day, he always delivers.
