A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of sitting down for a studio session with local musician, Tieren Simon. From the moment we started tossing ideas, and getting in the groove, I knew he was something special. Passion for music is one thing, but I believe Tieren is literally infused with music at the cellular level. After listening to his 3 track EP, ‘Seasons’, that was released at the beginning of October, I’m not surprised to hear the progress he’s made as an artist. Tieren has been sending me tunes for over a year now, and I have to say ‘Seasons’ is the best thing I’ve heard him release to date.

In a day and age where purchased social media followings and half ass productions are a dime a dozen; in comes Tieren as a beam of light. Something that I always tell new artists is to never stop grinding, because if you don’t take your music seriously why should anyone else?
Tieren shows no sign of slowing down, and I’m excited to see him achieve his music career goals.
Live performances are becoming one of the most important aspects of electronic shows and the spotlight is shifting towards this new standard for a legitimate musical experience. This new standard is why I have no doubt that you’ll be seeing more of Tieren in the near future. Piano, drums, trumpet, guitar, you name it, this kid can learn just about any instrument and come up with ways to incorporate it into his music.
As music continues moving forward into the next generation of sound it’s musicians like Tieren that are going to keep music progressive and thought provoking.
Real Respects Real: Lets Chat about the EP
We couldn’t let Tieren leave without talking with us first. “Real Respects Real” is a short interview I do, where I pry a bit to get to know our featured guest a little better.
Q: So Tieren what is it about music that moves you?
A: Music to me is more of a living being, each song has its only personality and story, I’ve always been fascinated by the art. Music is really an amazing human experience that has helped me out in so many way. I wouldn’t be who I am today if I hadn’t been saved by music, it’s just a part of my being now.
Q: Do you like dinosaur chicken nuggets or are they whack?
A: I’m a vegetarian!!!!! Hahaha I’ll pass on the dino nuggets.
Q: Did you harm any vegetables in the production of ‘Seasons’?
A: Too many…..It was the war of 2016. There were so many casualties. I watched a family of broccoli pass one bye one……I’ve seen bananas ripped in half. The things I’ve seen man, I can’t go back.
Q: Sounds brutal man. I’m here if you need me for moral support, but lets get back to the music. What inspired you to release this EP?
A: I wrote “Take it Back” to help me cope with losing a friend. The only lyrics in the song are “There’s no way we can go back to how we used to be”, and when I was writing I just kept in mind all of the good times we had together. It was really therapeutic for me.
With “Miles Away” I knew I wanted a song that was more simplistic yet powerful. I hit up Moia Bri and explained the kind of feel I was going for and she absolutely killed it. “Love” is about a girl, cliche as f*** I know, but the song is kind of chaotic as if love is unraveling. This track stirred a spiral of emotions as I set the tone for a more somber feel with the acoustic guitar. I’d like to thank everyone who was a part of the project. Moia Bri, Saint Claire, Warm Gun, and Kenny Lu.
There you have it people. It won’t be long before you start seeing his name popping up at a venue near you.
