ATL legend T.I. came to Seattle last night and shut the Showbox Sodo down! The RMR team slid into a packed house around 10 pm just before TIP took the stage. It’s always surreal to hear a catalog that’s followed most of your life.
The ladies were in full effect last night and T.I. fully embraced them with his southern drawl. Radio cuts received screams and I’m sure the tour bus was filled with women. I think half the crowd kept their cellphones up the entire show. As a treat outside of seeing the King, Young Dro also hit the stage.
T.I. first came onto the scene while I was in middle school and I had countless cuts of his on mix CD’s spanning a decade of my youth. From Hollywood to music, the man is still working and still able to put on one hell of a show. I will admit the atmosphere shifted a little when TIP went from classics to some unfamiliar material with the hustle gang. As it is with most rappers who’ve been in the gang for a while, we really want the classics and are distant to newer records that haven’t won our hearts yet. While this shift was minor, everyone left with a reminder that this man’s catalog is DEEP!
