After years of anticipation, The LOX- consisting of Styles P, Jadakiss, and Sheek Louch- returned to Los Angeles and put on a show at The Novo that the West Coast had not seen in a long time. That night could not do without “blunts and Hennessy,” as the venue was crowded with some serious old-school hip-hop fans eager for true New York rap.
The LOX’s Long-Awaited Los Angeles Show
Weeks before the event, Los Angeles was teeming with contagious excitement. People flocked to the venue in Downtown LA for a sold-out event that featured everything a fan of East Coast rap could want. So they got it – people were bouncing to classic New York hip-hop tunes and rapping along to the artists’ verses.
That night The LOX performed their greatest underground hits of all time. They did, however, open the show with their iconic song “Fuck You,” which instantly resonated in everyone’s heart. The song wasn’t chosen at random, though. First, it is one of their 2000s heyday bangers, and a highlight of We Are The Streets, their second album. The project was the band’s first significant collaboration with the Ruff Ryder label and DMX. As a result, both artists’ fans are intrinsically intertwined, a bond that has grown stronger over time. So everyone at the venue, including the artists, treated each other as old friends sharing the same goal – to have a good time.

An Incomparable Sound
Although the show immersed the audience in their wild and free adolescence, everyone at the venue still reflected their hip-hop credibility. That is to say, they attended the show for more than just nostalgia. The fans acknowledge that The LOX cannot be compared to any other hip-hop artist these days and that it will likely grow more challenging to discover someone similar in the future. Their era-specific sound, lyrics that resonate in the hearts of listeners, and professionalism accumulated through the decades are just a few things that make the group unique.
“The LOX is something different. We probably will never see anything like this again. The way they are able to stay in that pocket and keep it looking effortless can’t be duplicated. And Jadakiss is one of the best rappers of all time. Give that man his flowers, you can’t rap better than him, just tip your hat to that man.”
