A derivative of Jack Herer, The Jack by Cascadia Gardens is a truly exceptional genetic. With strong notes of grapefruit and bright citrus, this strain is a must-have for wake-n-bakers and athlete stoners. The Jack brings the bliss of Jack Herer and the euphoria of the Xj-13 together in a mighty nug package.
The Jack Genetics
One thing that has always confused me about cannabis is the overlap of terminology between the weed world and traditional agriculture. In horticultural science, we call any cross between two distinct genetics a hybrid. In cannabis, we use this term to indicate that a strain has effects that fall in between Sativa and Indica.
The Jack is a hybrid created from crossing a Jack Herer (Sativa) with an XJ-13 (Sativa). So the hybrid offspring “The Jack” is a Sativa according to the weed world. It certainly acts like a Sativa and has two Sativa parents.
The genetics of The Jack is still more complicated because its parent, XJ-13, is a cross of Jack Herer and G13. So, to create The Jack, breeders performed backcross breeding. In effect, the breeder performs inbreeding. The offspring is bred back to the parent.
Backcross breeding allows the breeder to stabilize the dominant desirable traits. The result is consistent offspring. This strain is an Xj-13 bred back to its parent, Jack Herer. The phenotype was so strong that Cascadia Gardens made it one of their flagship strains.
Official West Coast Weed Tour Review
I prefer smoking Sativas, so for me, The Jack has high appeal. Cascadia Gardens also recently updated their packaging. Now, you can clearly see the quality bud inside.
The color of the flower was darker than perfect. I think a longer flush would have served it well! The smell was on point despite being slightly dry. The usual grapefruit splash to the face was there. Potency was high, testing at 24.7% total cannabinoids.
My experience was lovely, blissful but energized and invigorated. Ready to start the day. The label does have the website on it but no information regarding social media.
Overall, yes I would absolutely recommend this strain to anyone looking for a great, consistent sativa. Cascadia has itself a winner with The Jack genetics.
