I am planning a trip to Mexico to renew my energy but little did I know, GreenRush has something up their sleeve that can tide me over. Allow me to introduce their Acapulco Gold strain HTE cartridge from their Standard line. The Snohomish, Washington producer/processor has been working on dialing things in, and this product is another prime example.
HTE, short for High Terpene Extract, is a product with a higher concentration of cannabinoids, terpenes, and overall potency. Experienced consumers and connoisseurs are more likely to reach for them.
Processors use hydrocarbons to extract high percentages of terpenes and other cannabinoids. The majority of concentrates in the world of cannabis extracts are made from hydrocarbons. They often mix HTE with distillate to make them compatible to be smoked in cartridge form.
Essentially, these distillate and cannabis-derived terpene mixes are equivalent to the Diamond Sauce, but in the form of a vape cartridge. I would take it as far as saying it’s on par with taking a low-temp dab if you have the right vape battery with adjustable settings.
Before The High
With this batch being freshly submitted, the exact results weren’t available. As noted in my previous review for their product submissions, this is not something you would experience in-store. The packaging is pretty standard for vape cartridges. The design, however, can lead to it being overlooked, simply based on visual aesthetics. The “Budtender Approved” label, which I must say reads as “Bud Approved Tender” gave me a moment of pause, though.
My first impressions of the GreenRush’s Acapulco Gold HTE cartridge was, while impressive, it wasn’t the most pungent smelling HTE cartridge I’ve had. Past encounters with HTE and live resin cartridges have left me paranoid in public, but the fragrance was mild, even when vaping. The cartridge’s viscosity was ideal; the product did not leak or congeal in any way.
To get the most out of any extract, it’s best to start with a lower temperature. I chose the lowest setting on my vape pen and let it rip. I was able to produce significant clouds on pretty shallow inhales. The flavor was mild, not nearly as strong as I had wished for. Acapulco Gold is imprinted in my marijuana muscle memory; I did not get the taste profile I so eagerly anticipated.
While Elevated
I am cynical by nature, so I rarely believe a product will live up to my expectations. Sadly, I was right. The flavor just wasn’t there the majority of the puffs, but it was not a complete fail. The high was there. A very cerebral, energetic high. To ensure it wasn’t a fluke, I was adamant about living with it as my sole cannabis product for an entire day. I was not let down. From wake and bake to the last hit of the night – it held up to my test.
The experience consistently met my expectation. Realizing the terps were not all there, but the high was still similar, I was able to incorporate it into my morning routine pretty easily. As with all of my reviews, I sat with this particular product for over a week.
I do prefer strains with terpenes that provide energy, are citrusy, and help get me creative. GreenRush and their Acapulco Gold HTE cartridge helped me clean my entire pantry, bedroom, and bathroom storage in one day. I definitely think that’s something to be said about the strength of HTE cartridges – wouldn’t you agree?
