31-year-old singer-songwriter, Teddy Swims played in Philly on Nov. 15, and he brought all the energy. The upcoming “Lose Control” artist sold out The Fillmore. The crowd was electric and the vibes were high as can be. It’s clear his music is definitely for anyone and everyone.
He came out around 9:10 p.m. sporting a casual outfit- a pink tie-dyed undershirt, a brown Hard Rock Cafe jacket, a pair of black athletic shorts, huge gold chain, and mid-calf black socks with no shoes on.
Teddy opened with ‘911,’ which was a fun jam and set the evening up for nothing but greatness. Then, he kept the show going with a cover of “‘Don’t Stop Believin’ “ which was a crowd favorite. The realness and rawness in his voice was unbelievable. The man is pure talent.
Also on stage to back up Teddy’s amazing vocals was his band, whom he mentioned is filled with some of his best friends. He even had his opener, Elley Duhé, come on stage during the concert to perform their duet, “Face Myself.”
He performed songs from his September album and tour title, I’ve Tried Everything but Therapy, including “Something’s I’ll Never Know,” “Goodbye’s Been Good to You”, “Last Communion,” “The Door,” and “You Still Get to Me.” Teddy also performed songs from his preceding two albums, Sleep is Exhausting and Hold Love.
In between certain songs, he would give a quick rundown of what inspired him to write it. For example, he jokes about getting a new iPhone whenever you move on with a new person after breaking up with the last, but notes that iCloud keeps everything. This lead right into “What More Can I Say”- a song about trying to explain yourself when your partner finds something unexpected on your phone.
The crowd cheered endlessly after every song Teddy sang, and sang along with him for every song after. They were super enthusiastic- even erupting in a Teddy, Teddy chant midway through the show. They held vinyl records of his album, and screamed many ‘I love you’s” to which Teddy would respond, “I love you, too.”
Teddy Swims was extremely interactive with his fans and even told them they “saved his life.”
“I’m a very very happy man and I feel seen and heard and loved,” he said. “I get to trauma dump to a bunch of strangers.”
He said he saw a lot of familiar faces among the crowd from times where his name was still unknown. However, the tattoo-covered singer now has over 11 million listeners on Spotify.
