Justin Martin is no stranger to music. Interestingly, in a recent biography I read written about him it simply stated, “Justin Martin started playing the pops and pans at the age of 2….. and now he is a DJ.” Nonetheless, this sums up Justin and his life-long passion for playing and creating music.
Earlier Justin founded DIRTYBIRD over a decade ago. Recently, he joined up with the Insomniac music group bringing his ‘What To Do’ imprint to the table. He released the second track off the label, “Stay,” back in April storming house-lovers headphones across the world.
Now, Tchami brings us an incredible rendition of the cut that takes listeners to a completely new place compared to the original. Justin’s version is a bit more dreamy. The track starts off with a series of different high hats, synths, and unconventional sounds that slowly lead to the vocal harmonizations.
With the song coming in at around five minutes, Justin takes his time. The rising and falling temperate yet rhythmic drops add a unique, gentle touch. Alternatively, Tchami brings the up-tempo heat his with his remix. Unlike Justin, Tchami starts off the track with a quicker beat with a more immediate approach to the vocals.
Interestingly Tchami almost streamlines the cut by eliminating a lot of the sounds Justin used. This makes for a different yet equally as catchy remix. Tchami is known for his generationally defining future house sound, and his release of “Stay” earlier this month shows merit to that.
