The Swamp Thing strain by Doc & Yeti has earned the hype of the cannabis community through its perfectly curated genetics. The strain is an indica-leaning cross between Triangle Kush and Grandpa’s breath; two strains whose lineages are steeped in Kush. The folks at Dockside in Seattle pointed us towards Swamp Thing for this reason– and we had to put it to the test.
Kush-Heavy Genetics
Triangle Kush is an indica-dominant hybrid whose genetics are infamously ambiguous. While the lineage is unknown, the strain is generally thought to be a descendant of an OG Kush that was bred in Florida. The Triangle Kush strain contains dark green buds with amber hairs and white trichomes sprinkled throughout. As far as its aroma, the hybrid gives off a slightly lemon-like scent with notes of floral and earth.
Swamp Thing’s second parent–Granpa’s Breath– is another Indica-dominant strain. The strain is a cross between OG Kush and Granddaddy Purple, which also can trace its lineage to Kush. The strain has a pungent, earthy aroma with a slight hint of fruit.
Appearance
Swamp Thing has an appearance that you would expect with such a name. The dense, chunky nugs are a forest green color with deep purple hues layered throughout. The nugs have a crazy amount of orange pistols that give them a hairy appearance.
Swamp Thing’s aroma is also well-fitting to its name. The nugs give off a musty, kush-like smell once you open the jar. The same smell is amplified after cracking open the nugs; becoming even more pungent. Additionally, cracking the bud exposes the sticky layer of resin that can be found on the inside.
Experience
The taste of Swamp Thing is a nod to its genetics. The full smoke, Kush taste mingles with a slight sweetness from the Granddaddy Purp. This mixture is so ideal because of the GDP’s ability to smooth out the harshness of the Kush flavor. The overall experience of Swamp Thing’s flavor is smooth and subtle, with an aftertaste that can be detected deep in your lungs after exhaling.
Swamp Things’ effects complement its delicious flavor. Clocking in at about 30% THC, the strain may be a highly potent indica. Users may experience feelings of deep relaxation in the body. Additionally, the strain has the potential to induce calmness in the mind as well.
The classic indica traits of the strain make it an ideal choice for late-night movies, listening to music, relaxing after work, or chilling with friends. As far as its medical potential, the strain has many possible benefits. Swamp Thing may be helpful in the treatment of insomnia, chronic pain, anxiety, and stress.
