Though he hails from Hawaiian Gardens, the smallest incorporated city in Los Angeles, rapper SvgPreme aims to make the biggest, and most Latino-centric moves each release. He is currently still reeling from the hype of his hit “Latino Heat” single pack earlier this month. SvgPreme joins forces with Mike Dinero to rollout their collaborative Shit Ways EP.
The five-track Elvn-produced project illuminates SvgPreme and Mike Dinero as a reality rap dynamic duo chock-full of animated punchlines and laden with street knowledge. The project arrives as somewhat of an evolution of sorts, as Mike Dinero recruited SvgPreme for his original “Shit Ways” single back in January.
The Shit Ways EP magnifies the energy embodied on the single while also capturing the duality that exists in the current landscape of underground rap in LA. With a dominant sense of finesse, the project meanders between the gritty street and club bangers and deep cuts.
The stylistic drill and bounce of new wave West Coast rap with songs like “MollyWater” combined with the hardnosed lyricism embodied on “No Hook” afford the project an impressive range of variety within a small venue.
SvgPreme has also delivered several solo music videos recently. In addition to delivering the highly anticipated visual for “Latino Heat” he also just let go of the video for “Thug It Out.”
