Stackztootrill, a rising Houston star, has arrived with his most personal and painful project yet. Struggling through hardship and loss early in life part of him has become calloused and shelled off. But, through the music, he has found a way to tell his story and keep fighting on.
Even after the loss of his mother this year on February 25th, his spark continues to electrify those around him. Keeping her spark alive, he dedicates The Pain Tape to his mother Gertrude M. Stafford. He officially set it loose on the world on his birthday yesterday, 5/27. On the album, he let out all the pain, internal wars, and external battles in what was an emotional, but needed, process for him.
From the first track, you can tell this album is different. It’s not something that was done quickly with song after song being recorded. Just listening to his words you can tell this isn’t easy for him. His track “No Guidance” is still hard for Stackz himself to listen to.

Nonetheless, it’s still one of those songs where he’s glad he let it out. “Agony” tells the story of police taking him away suddenly and questioning him. The song details Stackz finding out his brother/best friend had been murdered. Lastly, his track “Out My Mind” is him speaking on his PTSD and depression. This is the type of subject matter he barely talks about one-on-one with anybody.
These are just a few examples of what The Pain Tape holds. Music is Stackztootrill’s therapy and his fans are just that friendly ear to listen. Some may call it a risk letting everything out like this for the world to hear. While true fans of the art in music will understand and appreciate the realness he presents.
