South Florida Hip-Hop: Ten Fire Artists To Keep Your Eye On In 2020

South Florida has never stopped being a prominent area for rising hip-hop artists from all subgenres. You can find big boss flows from legends such as Rick Ross and Flo Rida, all the way to the aggressive and murderous deliveries of artists like Denzel Curry, Bobby Shmurda, and Kodak Black.

In areas such as Miami-Dade County, West Palm Beach, and Broward County, hip-hop thrives. South Florida in particular has been going up in recent years especially with the meteoric rise of artists like Ski Mask the Slump God, Lil Pump, City Girls, and Smokepurpp.

Whether you’re looking for something smooth or a little more gritty, the hip-hop scene in South Florida is diverse enough to deliver it. You’ll find just as many artists repping the jookin’ and mumble rap sound that Florida has made famous as the ones still laying down relentless bars. Check out these ten South Florida artists that are either two steps from superstardom, or well on their way to widespread success.

Rod Wave

Rod Wave is another artist from South Florida that’s arguably made it. The 20-year-old from St. Petersburg skyrocketed to fame with the release of his single “Heart On Ice” that went viral on YouTube. The song went on to peak at number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100. Rod has a soulful, emotional, yet thugging sound that is as captivating to watch as it is to listen to. Rod Wave is next in line to become one of the most well-known artists from South Florida by the end of 2020.

OTM Frenchyy

St. Petersburg spitter OTM Frenchyy drops onto each beat with extra sauce and a driving flow. He had serious momentum two years ago with a WSHH premiere for his track “I Need More.” The track has a somber bop to it that still features thoughtful and hard bars from Frenchyy that get you moving and longing for the good life.

GucciiBlack

West Palm Beach artist GucciiBlack has been making a splash in the rap game since 2017. Consistently leveling up with every release, Guccii has a sharp delivery that will get any young fan of rap hyphy. His beat selection is often minimal yet straight knocking. Check out his cold visuals for “Parking Lot” and understand that GucciiBlack is ready to do what it takes to get ahead.

561 Monsta

Tampa artist 561 Monsta has a crazy flow. You can usually find Monsta dropping gritty bars over booming and spooky beats. His most recent visuals for “Step” are a testament to the fact that you don’t want to mess with Monsta or his crew. Mafia vibes ensue below over some incredibly tough verses.

FMG Tayda

St. Petersburg spitter FMG Tayda is lowkey thriving and has a flow that’s easy to digest. Though he doesn’t boast the biggest social media following, he’s putting up crazy numbers. One of his biggest tracks that came out last year called “New Shit” is close to pushing a million views. With no apparent label-involvement, you have to wonder why he’s not already verified and well on his way to global attention.

Hood Brat

Hood Brat is an unapologetic emcee from Miami that isn’t scared to pull up in her stilettos and take care of business. Consistently dropping boss b*tch anthems, Hood Brat is sure to keep building crazy attention around her movement. Check out her newest video for “Warning Sign” and peep her relentless and murderous flow.

FredRarrii

Miami spitter FredRarrii has some serious buzz surrounding him. Exuding confidence and realness, FredRarri is a name that’s sure to blow up more by the end of the year. His most recent music video for “Spin Again” features YFN Lucci and premiered exclusively through WorldStar. This release alone shows the kind of winning trajectory Rarri is on.

Geetchie Kemosabe

Hailing from the Lake Worth area of West Palm Beach, Geetchie Kemosabe has a smooth flow and sizeable hype surrounding his releases over the last few years. The first visuals that got him some attention came two years ago for his track “Lace Em Up.” Any minute now, Geetchie is sure to catch another vibe with his tough yet easy-riding flow and take him to the next level. Check out his more recent visuals for “EASY” below and turn up on some lowkey thugging vibes.

Kiddo Marv

North Miami artist Kiddo Marv has a great voice that will still cover braggadocious and bossed up subject matter. Two years ago he had a big hit titled “Real Drip” featuring City Girls that has twitchy high hats and somber guitar licks throughout. Marv has an overall saucy vibe that can’t be denied. He’s sure to pop off on something new that shows off his same emotional yet flex-filled energy before the year is done.

9lokkNine

Though he’s from Orlando, 9lokknine has risen in the last few years to become one of the most talked-about street rappers from Florida. With videos well over tens of millions of views, it really seemed like he was going to reach superstardom last year even. 9lokknine seems to be getting charges thrown at him for one thing or another, which could be holding him back from major success. At just only 20-years-old though, at least there’s still plenty of time for him to get there. With his new visuals for “Slidin” already pushing close to 7 million views, it’s crazy to think that he’s not a household name by now.
