Skellism is a duo based in Los Angeles, CA who’s interests are music, women, and tacos, at least according their Facebook. They make “trap EDM music and their new track “Suffocate” might actually make you do just that. Following their massive collab with Lil Jon, “In the Pit,” the two have proven they’re clearly making big things happen with plenty left to offer.
They may even have a couple tricks up their sleeves. The duo teamed up with veteran producer Darren Styles and together, the three bring two era’s of dance music together while still making something that feels and sounds brand new.
Skellism starts off “Suffocate” with a haunting aura and a lonely croon overlaying the track. At the 0:53 mark the vocals begin laying down the foundation of the story behind the track, needing that one person who is like the air inside your lungs, without them you’ll choke. From here, the real fun begins.
“Suffocate” builds up into a surprisingly hard-hitting drop, turning this song from an emotional slow-mover to a total headbanging madhouse. Mixing monotone synths, pumping drums, and dark foreboding synths, this track will take you on a full dance roller coaster.
