One of Hip-Hop’s favorite duos, Metro Boomin and 21 Savage, has been relatively quiet lately. This Friday, they return with the highly anticipated Savage Mode 2.
It’s been four years since the release of Savage Mode. The album, a fan favorite, has tens of millions of streams. The demand for a sequel came to a head recently with a petition recently crossing 8,000 signatures. Metro Boomin and 21 Savage heard the fans loud and clear.
The Savage Mode 2 announcement instantly went viral, climbing to the top ten of the Trending Charts on YouTube within 24 hours of release. The bloody trailer, directed by Gibson Hazard and narrated by Morgan Freeman, shows the rapper and producer in a haunted house, listening to the new record.
“So to be in Savage Mode is to go hard, not allowing anything to stop or deter you from your mission,” Morgan Freeman can be heard saying. “Basically, this means when someone is in Savage Mode, they’re not to be fucked with.”
The original Savage Mode has been certified gold. The album generated two platinum hits, “No Heart” and “X” featuring Future. During a tour run in Los Angeles, 21 Savage confirmed that a sequel was on the way.
Prior to the release of Savage Mode 2 on Friday, a merch store has been launched. Cash grab galore.
