Sobriety looks damn good on Sam Lachow. He’s already releasing a second single since “Lady Sunday” surprised the entire Seattle scene a few weeks ago. This time, he steps into the ring with Travis Thompson for some verbal sparring in “Bob N’ Weave.” Jake Crocker, Xander Knight, and Lawrence Genette produced the beat.
Lachow’s verses tell a story about fighting the demons in his head. It’s inspiring to see Lachow open up about his sobriety issues in a fun and honest way through his music. “Lady Sunday” and “Bob N’ Weave” are both creative approaches to explore his addiction struggles and personal issues.
Thompson’s hook is a highly edited catchy thing that breaks down boxing combos like Mike Tyson and Cus D’Amato training in the gym. His bars are classic Ambaum as he touches on going to shows in dirty fits, taking shots of liquor before dinner, and waiting for buses outside 128th. Thompson has a knack for bringing out a hooligan kid swag that takes you back to the days of riding bikes through the night while lifting street signs and traffic cones.
It’s been fun to see Lachow’s rise back into the spotlight. These last singles are two of his best in some time and both feature town favorites in Dave B. and Travis Thompson, respectively. If this is the work we can expect, it’s only bangers and sold-out shows for Huckleberry Lachow from here on out.
