The former MVP is on the move once again. Russell Westbrook was traded to the Utah Jazz after spending a season and a half with the Los Angeles Clippers. However, he will not suit up for Utah as they will buyout the remainder of Westbrook’s contract, opening the door for him to join the current MVP Nikola Jokic in Denver.
The Clippers will receive guard Kris Dunn, a 2nd-round pick swap, and cash in the deal.
Russell Westbrook would average 11.1 points (career low), 5 rebounds, and 4.5 assists in 68 games last season, being mostly a bench fixture and only starting 11 of those games.
Will Russell Westbrook Finally Win an NBA Championship?
The Denver Nuggets are still one of the best teams in the league. With Nikola Jokic coming off of his third MVP season, Jamal Murray full returning to form, and still having the likes of Aaron Gordon and Michael Porter Jr., this squad is still ready to compete and win now.
Though not the player he once was, Russell Westbrook is still playing hard and will be a positive asset with a strong veteran presence.
Russell Westbrook has just one Finals appearance in his Hall of Fame career, where he and former teammates Kevin Durant and James would fall short against MVP LeBron James and the Miami Heat in 5 games. He finds himself in a great situation to capture that elusive ring with guys who have recently been there and done that and he could be the fuel to put them over the hump again.
