QU/NTEN, artist out of North Carolina, is an eighteen year old hustler out here doing it on his own. Creating a melodic rap sound, QU/NTEN does all producing, writing, and mixing himself. In his track “Route 66” featuring dylAn, Q pays homage to the granddaddy of roads with vibey vocals and layered production. Nailing the melody with the keyboard leading the way “Route 66” also uses a rapid snare that dylAn uses to catch his flow. Q slides on the beat using his ranged vocal ability in the chorus and holding it down while dylAn hits us with straight bars and adds some variation to the song with his deep bravado.
With the release of second EP Carolina Skies on May 16th, Q has big plans and 2019 is his open road. Free to change his sound whenever he feels Q isn’t afraid to try some things outside the box. Having songs like “Ton of People” in his discography is a good example of his ability to change it up and keep it fresh, focusing more on rapping and bars than melodic lyrics. Having the ability to go back in forward in your sounds this way has become a proven commodity in today’s music scene and I’m interested to see how QU/NTEN uses this to his advantage as he continues down this route.
