Rostrum Records Signee Liife Drops New Song “Meet The Parents”

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania based record label Rostrum Records has a track record for developing artists into stars. You have to look no further than Wiz Khalifa and the late Mac Miller for physical proof. The two indie artists went from local aspiring artists to two of the biggest stars in the hip-hop world. Now the east coast label has reached across the country and signed Compton emcee Liife.

After the first listen I couldn’t help but notice a vocal inflection that resembled one of my favorite emcees of all time…Jay-Z. Liife’s flow is original and all his own. It’s just his voice on tracks that gives off a Shawn Carter type vibe. One thing is for sure and that’s that the Cali artist can really rap. One good stroll through his Soundcloud page and it won’t take long to be convinced. Every track I listened to was a banger. The west coast rapper has already amassed a nice list of co-conspirators as well including Freddie Gibbs and Dave East on the standout track, “Body For My Zip Code.”

Now Liife is back with his second release since joining the Rostrum lineup. The new single is titled, “Meet The Parents.” The track is a three-minute-long tale of being from a city where too many kids are raised by the streets. He does a great job of painting a picture of Compton life where courtrooms and funerals become a place of mourning for too many parents.
