Chima and Andy are like creatures from the Black Lagoon. They rose through the foggy mist to bring us their sophomore album, Vizard, as the synth-hop duo Remember Face. Their experimentation across all aspects of each composition creates a unique sound that can’t be compared.
This album usually gets put on after my morning coffee kicks in which is when I switch to my productive mode. The beat is always an invigorating sound and usually dance-oriented. I can’t help but bust a move.
But real talk, Chima is one of the only rappers EVER where I can’t recite their lyrics word for word. I’ve tried many times. I know their debut album front to back and still can’t hit every bar. His lyrics are unique as fuck, I could never predict what’s going to come out of his mouth. Add that to his wild cadences that fluctuate between a quick outpouring of bars to a methodically spaced out verse that lies in the pocket.

I’ve been spinning this record non-stop since it dropped. I thought I was going to write something long and profound analyzing this album. But honestly, this is a project that doesn’t need to analyzed. It doesn’t need to be explained, it just needs to be heard. I recommend listening from beginning to end. But if you’re just trying to dip your toes, I chose a few tracks to start with.
