After recently releasing his album, Don D.O.L.L.A, Damian Lillard a.k.a Dame D.O.L.L.A. has released the music video for his titular track. Following his team missing the NBA post-season, Lillard spent his summer both in the gym and the studio.
The Don D.O.L.L.A album features the likes of Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, and Ty Dolla $ign, but this song and video combination taps in with fellow West Coast artist, Rexx Life Raj. Raj himself is coming off an impressive tour run from his most recently released album The Blue Hour. It makes sense that the two come together in preparation for the season ahead.
The “Don D.O.L.L.A” video itself plays on the pair’s humble beginnings as they spend most of their time in a local mall’s Ross store. The duo have a blast rummaging through the aisles and dancing through the streets of Portland. They also make time for their fans as they pose for pictures. They also make sure to flex their success as they hit up a few luxury brand stores too.
Dame makes sure you understand this growth when he raps, “My momma used to shop at Ross and get it off the clearance/ But you could never tell now, lookin’ at my appearance.” If anything at all, this video is a representation of a man’s journey to live out his dreams.
After a two-year musical hiatus, it’s clear that Dame has found his musical spark again. Fans of his music and his game on the hardwood court can expect good things this NBA season if the Don is having fun again.
