Creative Currents From Shy Yella, Lil Tracy, Parisalexa and More For PNW Rising

For you awesome supporters coming back for some more RMR love, we’ve got PNW Rising for y’all! This week we’re presenting you guys with local news surrounding the music, videos, and  artists of assorted styles and genres in the PNW Region. Set yourselves up for the rundown on all things to do with local talent in our beloved hub that is the Pacific Northwest.

“Rich Girl,” Shy Yella

This multi-talented virtuosa absolutely needs to be spotlighted for her extremely danceable music and creative vision. Not only is Shy Yella the star of this music video, she directed, produced, co-filmed AND edited it. What else can this gifted woman do?! Listen to this number when you are out there hustling and manifesting nothing, but success because that’s definitely the tone you get from the lyrics. But it’s also just great dance music with rhythmic piano and sound effects. We love a versatile jam. With a nod to her Indigenous pride throughout this fire video, this queen deserves all the props. Of course, I have no doubt we’ll be seeing her many times on PNW Rising.

“MOTION,” Xavier Weeks

It shouldn’t surprise anyone that RMR’s got another new hit for you guys to check out by Xavier Weeks. Still, this artist never disappoints, and he’s got a video out skillfully captured by kcoyi with occasional night vision and other unique visual graphics. An instant standout when it comes to this jam is that Weeks’ pitch has been altered to go much higher. This song is just a testament to how Xavier Weeks is not only good at slaying verses, but his sound production as a whole is something rare in the best way as he is not afraid to experiment.

“You Can Never Have Me,” Lil Tracy

Are we allowed to mention personal favorites? If so, this is IT for me. “You Can Never Have Me,” is a headbanger with dark electric guitar riffs flowing completely in sync with slick percussion. Lens work done on this video by Miggy balances so well with the music with its sensual vampire vibes that are entertaining enough to become its own movie. For our Respect My Region people that love a good cross-genre fusion as much as I do, you should’ve been listening to this song yesterday.

“DX Freestyle,” Kid Cambo & SuburbanTrapstar

Kid Cambo is coming at you with a new sound alongside SuburbanTrapstar, and they go crazy on this one! These two rappers team up and deliver their verses so quick and clean with a classic baseline to back it up. Shot and edited by Ghxstboi, you witness this seamless combination in the arcade at Round1 with colors bold enough to match the entire vibe. With this in mind, anyone else trying to play arcade games after this article? Asking for a friend.

“Wussah,” Karma Knows

Y’all get excited for this music video release because it’s just as aesthetically pleasing as it is sonically. Directed by Justin Frick, the video is giving Wes Anderson with its low-saturation alongside bright colors. The track itself is a slow bop with Karma Knows rhyming tight and accompanied with a funky slap bass. Undeniably, this is going to be one of those simple and sweet tunes you put on when you just want to cruise for the day whether that’s in your car or on the couch, dealer’s choice. However, the full video comes out this Sunday,do not miss out!

King Youngblood

Showcased on Seattle’s Fox 13, King Youngblood is a dope alt rock group with a singer who has almost an operatic voice. To put it another way, this band seems well in their element when it comes to harmonizing hard and grungy melodies with orchestral instrumentals. They recently released an album, Big Thank, and we definitely expect big things to keep coming from this crew and making another PNW Rising comeback.

Parisalexa

Additionally, Parisalexa was also just highlighted in local news. this lovely songstress throws out silky vocal runs that are reminiscent of vocalists like Normani and SZA. Parisalexa’s most recent EP, Finishline, includes “…Better Than Being In Love,” a sweet sounding break-up ballad that makes you feel good. Take a listen to this song while watching the warm lit and intimate music video directed by J. A. Moreno. If you’re curious about songwriting, she’s got you covered there too because she even provides masterclasses!

Grit City Cypher

Without a doubt, if you were at Grit City Cypher, you started off September right. This event is definitely for the books for any hip-hop lover, and this year was particularly special because as you may know, this is the year to celebrate 50 YEARS of hip-hop! Open to all ages and hosted by Rango, the Alma Rooftop in Tacoma, WA was poppin’ with local legends from different corners of the Pacific Northwest. Best of all, proceeds were donated to philanthropies focused on “youth voice, creative endeavors, and education.” This occasion brought artists together to showcase their art and make sure the next generation keeps crafting that art, and that’s a thing of beauty.
