I was introduced to Canterbury Ale House in Capitol Hill a few weekends back when they were gracious enough to host a University of Tennessee Alumni viewing of their football game. My family and I got there shortly after they opened but the the place quickly filled up before the game started.
We walked past a shuffle board, a good sized bar towards the back and tables/booths that evened things out across from the bar. To the left of the bar was a room the alumni took over. The room looked interesting with a stuff bird and ye ole’ English decorations surrounded by orange and white pompoms, orange seersucker shirted men and sports coats.
Hands down the best thing about this bar was the staff. The waiter practically hung out with us, providing very good information on food and easing our hungry stomachs while we waited until 2pm for the full kitchen. My family and I munched on the sides offered through brunch before eating more food off their lunch menu. We quickly ate all the food that was put on our table and easily debated getting more. My table got wings, cheese curds, blt and fish tacos.
They had plenty of good domestic beers that were organized on the menu by state. They didn’t have many beers on the menu from Europe though. Either way I definitely can’t wait for another chance to visit.
