It’s funny how some things work out huh? One day you’re playing football with only that as your main focus, your goal. Then suddenly you’re getting lit with your home boys and got girls dancing all around. Sounds like the beginning of a tragic 30 for 30 where great potential meets a sudden end. But that is exactly what Pierce Ripanti and his homeboys didn’t do.
The Warm Up
It all started in high school, the routine was simple. Go to school, go to football practice, and then get in the car and put the phone in the center console. Using a voice memo app on their phones, Pierce Ripanti and his friend Troy Glenn would play beats and record freestyles. Really just acting as a hobby to break up the routine of school and football. The two had no idea it would lead to what it is now.
Glenn first heard Ripanti rap at a party in 9th grade. A group of them were sitting around at a table just chopping it up when suddenly, Ripanti just suddenly got up and started free styling. Glenn immediately knew Ripanti had something different.
Game Time
Fast forward to 2017, Ripanti and Glenn had been playing football at their respective colleges. But that summer Glenn made the move and started the record label Academy Entertainment Group. Immediately Ripanti was signed as an artist as well as his college teammate Derek Knox. LaQuan Lambert, who also played college football with Ripanti, later joined the business side. Having already garnered an international fan base in the United Kingdom. AEG is poised to do well for themselves, with Pierce Ripanti leading the charge.
In his video for “Glow” Pierce Ripanti turns a house party to the club. With lyrics like “who the hell told you you bad boy?/ no one little bitch I’m the GOAT.” Ripanti knows he’s good at what he does and ain’t afraid to let you know either. With the jungle juice poured and the production on point. Pierce Ripanti and AEG are showing us they are a serious force to be reckoned with in hip-hop, and are having fun while doing it.
