I’m a lover of all cuisines but my life thrives on tacos and tequila. I need that tangy lime to twist my taste buds a couple times a week. I’ve hiked in the urban areas all over Seattle, and have found my favorite taquerias in each neighborhood. A taqueria is a restaurant that specializes in my favorite all inclusive entree, the taco.
The Taco
The taco is a traditional Mexican dish that is made up of a small soft corn (preferentially), or flour tortilla that’s folded or rolled around a filling. Traditionally the filling consists of a certain style of meat
Tacos de Azador
Meats that have been grilled
Tacos de Cazo
Meats that have been slow cooked
Tacos de Cazuela
Meats that have been braised
Flautas or Taquitos
The entire taco is rolled and deep fried
The meats can vary from carne asada (steak), chicken, pork, or seafood. Vegetarians can enjoy tacos with nopales (cactus pads), papa (potatoes), or beans. Your standard topping would be fresh a pico de gallo consisting of onion, tomato, green chile, and cilantro. But the possibilities are endless so you can create your own personal favorite combination of toppings.
Pecado Bueno in Fremont
Right off of Fremont Ave is Pecado Bueno, a simple taqueria with a refined taste. They use fresh, high-quality ingredients, and make everything from scratch. They provide a salsa bar for you to mix and match different heats, and flavors. My favorite part is their house margaritas which only set you back $3.75. Seriously less than four dollars, all day every day! Plus look at that patio, who wouldn’t want to spend happy hour here?
If you want to spark your appetite, just two blocks north of Pecado Bueno is the Pot Stop. They have a knowledgeable staff that will always point you in a good direction. My recommendation would be to get anything from Green Acres Pharm.
