Respect My Region is excited to announce the start of our new video interview series hosted by yours truly. Filmed and edited by Spokane’s rising videographer Lledrow, we dive headfirst to try and get inside an artists’ mind and dig up the real gems.
From in-depth questions to fun segments like Explain That Bar and Is That Even Real? A segment where I’ll read out crazy, funny, or straight-up unbelievable headlines and our guest tries to make sense of how the situation came to be. As a final treat, our artists will drop a dope, on the spot freestyle/performance where you get a chance to check out their talents. With a focus on local and rising talent, we hope to help put the spotlight on the true artists that have really been out here grinding.
Our guest for Episode 1 is Past Life Kenny. Originally from Champaign, Illinois but now living in Spokane, we talk about his early success with songs like “Yep Yep Yep” now over 400k streams on SoundCloud alone. He tells us about how he discovered his sound and how it’s grown. He also shares some of his thoughts on the PNW hip-hop scene and what’s been keeping him inspired during these hard times.
