Helping set the foundation of a lit St. Louis rap wave, unsigned rapper NWM Cee Murdaa confidently releases another hit with the song “GI Joe.” Along with collaborators like 30 Deep Grimeyy, Murdaa defines a bloodthirsty and smooth sound finding its feet in STL. Guns litter the visuals of Murdaa, and everyone pictured is going off tough.
Visually, “GI Joe” shows off the rusty Midwest standard of STL, resembling scenes in Detroit or Chicago of bandos and bad drugs. Like the rest of the Midwest though, STL is teeming with life in Murdaa’s video, showing brutally resistant and strongly spirited locals.
Lyrically, NWM Cee Murdaa is on top of the game. “GI Joe” keeps intelligible throughout the entire playtime and every bar lands. The rapper doesn’t need much time to learn, considering he’s already honed his talent to this point. Any fans of aggressive and competent rap are quick to convert into Murdaa believers.
“GI Joe” Is One Banger Out Of Many To Come
Soon Murdaa won’t be only an STL name. The STL wave has to break into the larger music industry considering the skill at hand, and the demand for similar content. While buckets of less talented rappers with less experience have made plenty of successful trap banger hits with millions of plays, the aesthetic they stole rightfully belongs to artists like Murda. “GI Joe” is yet another proof of Murda’s rightful claim to the sound.
Once people start driving around this summer, it’s over. People up to no good breaking into buildings, tagging shit, and yanking whips will be blasting Murdaa no question. It’s been a while since there was an artist that truly got being wild, but “GI Joe” is that track for drinking, working out, partying, or whatever else you need to bump a track at.
Stay updated on the STL scene, it’s lit. Check out more track like “GI Joe” by Murdaa on Youtube and Twitter. His collaborative project Splash Brothers, done with 30 Deep Grimeyy, is a must-listen for those interested in the sound. 2020 will see the rise of STL voices.
