This week RMR is continuing our segment New Music Monday, where we run down the latest in new music released each week. This week we have some new releases to recommend for your playlist!
A lot of incredible tracks were released this week across multiple genres. For this episode, we are again focusing on new hip-hop and electronic songs, as well as some pop R&B influenced tracks. Our list includes Mario, NLE Choppa, Travis Scott, Zayn and more!
“Main One (feat. Tyga and Lil Wayne)”
To kick things off, Mario released a new song this week, “Main One (feat. Tyga and Lil Wayne)”. The song is in my opinion one of the best collaborations of the year so far. Mario’s vocals are angelic as usual. The tune contains some great rap verses from Tyga and Lil Wayne as well as some great ad libs. It is a perfect combination of R&B and hip-hop and we are totally here for it.
“Stomp Em Out” – NLE Choppa
We also got a new song from NLE Choppa this week. The track is titled “Stomp Em Out” and features Duke Deuce. The song has a super intense, hard beat that is sure to grab the listener’s attention. On top of the great production, NLE Choppa is absolutely spitting, it is definitely not a song to miss.
“K-Pop”- Travis Scott, The Weeknd, and Bad Bunny
Staying in the hip-hop category, Travis Scott, Bad Bunny and The Weeknd released an amazing collaboration. Their new track is titled “K-Pop” and it is already getting some well deserved attention. Production wise, the song has a great shuffle beat throughout that is perfect for a night out. Travis Scott’s rapping on the tune is amazing as usual, and The Weeknd’s vocals add a great hook. There is also a Spanish verse from Bad Bunny, which takes the song to the next level. It is definitely worth checking out.
“RIOT (Rowdy Pipe’n)” – A$AP Rocky
And finally to round out the new releases in hip-hop, before I stray off into other genres today, A$AP Rocky’s new release is in our ears as well. The song is titled “RIOT (Rowdy Pipe’n)” and is already racking in the streams. It has a great 808 beat and some sick vocal loops throughout. A$AP’s rapping is amazing as usual and his lyrics are extremely clever, it is the perfect track for a summer night.
“You Knew” -Roisin Murphy
To start off the electronic category for this week, we have Roisin Murphy with her new release “You Knew”. This is a track off of her upcoming album Hit Parade. The song is relatively calm with some great synth parts and a laid back beat. The vocals are amazing and she is definitely telling a story with her lyrics. ‘You Knew’ is the story of my life,” explained Murphy. “I’m an open book, I put myself on the line and I make my motivations obvious. Many times, I have bravely loved and not been loved in return, and I’m proud of that. That phrase, ‘You Knew,’ just sums it all up, in fact you could put it on my headstone, except I’ve already decided it’ll say… You Had Your Chance!”
“Unknown Summer”- Burial
Another sick electronic track released this week is Burial’s “Unknown Summer”. The song has some great synth parts and some interesting sometimes even creepy vocal loops. The song has lots of starts and stops, creating some great tension and release. It is way synth and vocal heavy, with the drums relatively low in the mix. With a play time of over 9 minutes, it is definitely an experience to listen to the track, and it is worth checking out.
“Love Like This” – Zayn
Lastly to round out our list of new releases in the pop category, we have a new release from ZAYN, “Love Like This”. This is ZAYN’s first release in a while, he has been relatively quiet since the release of his 2021 album Nobody is Listening. “Love Like This” has ZAYN’s classic R&B vocals but is a more mature song than his past music. It also has an amazing beat and an extremely catchy hook. This is definitely a great song for your summer nights!
