Here at Respect my Region we are starting a new segment called “New Music Monday” where we are going to rundown some of the best new tracks released each week. Whether you’re looking for new tracks to improve your summer, or you just want to know what’s worth checking out this week, RMR has you covered.
For these tracks, we are going to focus mostly on new hip-hop music as well as some great electronic songs. We are also going to include a couple of tracks from other genres that have been released this week as well.
So many great tracks were released this week. This week’s list includes Coi Leray, Nicki Minaj, Ice Spice, Diplo, Young Thug, Key Glock, Aphex Twin, Skream, and more. Scroll down for the full rundown of tracks for this week’s “New Music Monday.”
“Make My Day” Coi Leray and David Guetta
To start off New Music Monday, Coi Leray released her newest album Coi this past Friday. It’s full of fire tracks. One of the songs getting the most play as of now is “Make My Day” featuring David Guetta. This song is super sick, it features a sample from the song “Pump Up the Jam” which was released over 34 years ago. It’s always great to hear a new take on a classic song. Coi’s voice suits the track perfectly and David Guetta’s mixing and production is awesome as well. The whole album is set to be a hit and we will definitely be hearing a lot more about Coi.
“Cars Bring Me Out (feat. Future)” Young Thug
Another track that’s been in our ears this weekend is by none other than Young Thug. He has been in prison since May 2022, after being charged with gang indictment. But this still hasn’t stopped him from releasing some great music, despite being in prison. One of the tracks that is getting the most turns “Cars Bring Me Out (feat. Future).” He wrote this before his incarceration and lyrically it references the pandemic-hustle.
“Barbie World” Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice
Staying in the hip-hop category, we also got a new track from Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice this week. Their new track “Barbie World” is a remix of Aqua’s 1997 hit. It will be featured on Barbie: The Album the soundtrack for the newest Barbie movie. Both of these ladies kill it on this track and bring a new hip-hop spin to the already hit song. On top of that, the music video is also killer, it features a variety of rappers using the Barbie house, convertible and even jet skiing through pink clouds. Leave it to Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice to turn a song into a smash again, over 20 years after its original release.
“Presidential Rolex” Key Glock
Finally, to round out the hip-hop tracks, Key Glock also released a new deluxe version of his record Glockoma 2 this week. Which is the follow up record for his 2018 album Glockoma. The deluxe version features a new track “Presidential Rolex,” which is sure to make some waves. This track features a sick piano anchored beat by Tay Keith, which Key Glock raps over with a sick flow.
“Blackbox Life Recorder 21f” Aphex Twin
First up for new electronic stuff Aphex Twin released his new track “Blackbox Life Recorder 21f.” It’s the first single from his upcoming EP Blackbox Life Recorder 21f/ In a Room 7 f760, which will be his first release since 2015. He definitely came back with a bang; the song is sick. The track is full of melancholy melodies and a beat that never lets up and always keeps you on your toes. Although the track is instrumental, the listener will never get bored. It’s a great comeback for Aphex Twin.
“Your Love” Skream and Lagoon Wavey
We also got a new track from Skream and Lagoon Wavey, “Your Love.” This is set to be a track on Skream’s upcoming record Skreamizm Vol.8, which we are eagerly awaiting a release date for. Compared to Skream’s previous songs, he seems to be really into the house vibes with this song. This perfectly accompanies Lagoon Wavey’s crisp and airy vocals. We are super excited to hear the full record when it comes out.
“Without You” Diplo and Elle King
Diplo also has a new release. He has been really switching it up genre wise, going in almost a completely different direction from the electronic music we are used to from him. His most recent release “Without You,” with Elle King is a country track. It’s your typical country song with some acoustic guitars and lyrics about heartbreak. With Country climbing the mainstream charts again in the past few months, it could very well be a huge hit.
“Sittin’ On Top of the World” Burna Boy and 21 Savage
The last track for this New Music Monday, Burna Boy and 21 Savage released a new R&B track this week, “Sittin’ on Top of the World.” This is another song that samples a past hit, 1998 “Top of the World.” 21 Savage hops on the track making it a great remix. We should be expecting a music video for this song soon.
