There’s nothing like a fizzy beverage on a sunny day, which California never seems to be short on. It should come as no surprise that cannabis-infused drinks have been gaining a steady fanbase in the Golden State. Nectr has become one of the more popular brands that Californian’s have been reaching for.
Their sugar-free THC-infused sparkling waters come with 5mg of THC and four flavors: watermelon, orange cream, grapefruit, and lemon-lime. I had the opportunity to review their Orange Cream flavored beverage.
Nectr’s core principle is to medicate the masses. They seek to create economically accessible THC-infused beverages that everyone can enjoy. Their THC-infused sparkling water also comes in watermelon, grapefruit, and lemon-lime. The packaging and bottles Nectr uses seem like they would fit well on the shelf of any typical convenience store or liquor store. They look similar to some iconic bottled beers such as Session and Red Stripe.
In the same spirit as Session beers, Nectr’s THC-infused drinks are meant to be palatable and light. This would suggest why they only put 5mg of THC into each beverage and don’t overdo the flavor. I have tried Nectr’s watermelon flavor before and was expecting some of the same outcomes. This is the kind of drink that’s meant to refresh more than it is to get you noticeably high.
Initial Taste Test
I got my glass ready with two ice cubes and popped the top off Nectr’s Orange Cream THC-infused Sparkling Water. Taking a whiff inside the bottle after I opened it, it had citrus notes that plainly told me this was some orange-flavored sparkling water. Initially, I took a swig off of the bottle to wet my palate. The flavor was light, but it definitely had the orange cream profile I know from sodas. I saw the manufacturing and packaging date on this drink was over nine months old. But, it seems this factor doesn’t play as big of a role in quality for infused beverages as it does for some edibles.
Pouring some of Nectr’s THC-Infused Orange Cream Sparkling Water into my glass, the liquid was like cloudy water; a lot of companies use dye to change the color of their infused drinks. After a few sips in my glass, I was definitely picking up the orange and cream notes along with a tarter citrus that made me think of lemons.
Conclusions
When thinking of a score out of ten, it’s important to point out that Orange Cream is a distinct flavor that’s not going to please everyone. You usually find this flavor in sodas (with lots of sugar) rather than sparkling water with zero sugar. The packaging could also stand out more, with maybe a clear bottle and the addition of some orange coloring to the drink.
That being said, I gave Nectr’s Orange Cream THC-Infused Sparkling Water an 8 out of 10. Check out my video review below, and search for Nectr’s products at your nearest California cannabis dispensary.
