Two of the UFC’s biggest stars in the company’s history are set to settle their genuine differences. Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal are set to rematch, but this time in boxing rather than mixed martial arts, in the main event slot inside the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, on July 6th.

The fan favorites known for delivering spectacular fights initially squared off in November 2019 on UFC 244, where they fought for the first-ever ‘BMF’ belt, a title presented by the UFC that signifies the ‘Baddest Motherf****r’ in the game.
In this initial fight, Masvidal led the dance from start to finish as he battered Stockton’s Diaz from pillar to post, landing ferocious head kicks, elbows, knees to the body, etc. Diaz had little to no answers for Masvidal’s blitzing attacks.
However, fight fans left UFC 244 feeling somewhat unfulfilled as the blockbuster ‘BMF’ fight was called off before the fourth round by veteran referee Dan Miragliotta due to a gruesome and deep cut on the brow of Diaz examined by a ringside physician.
Masvidal’s hellacious offensive display of attacking all three levels of a bloodied and battered Diaz truly earned him the title of ‘BMF’ that November night.
Bad Blood Leading Into this Boxing Match
Diaz and Masvidal have gone on a national tour promoting this boxing rematch. However, Diaz has not seemed too keen on fully buying into the promotional side. He has been consistent in giving short answers and even leaving events early.
However, the plot thickened when, just a few weeks ago, the two former UFC fighter’s camps were involved in an unexpected and shocking brawl after a press conference. The brawl began with both camps facing off, forcing security to intervene and prevent the situation from spiraling into chaos.
The initial exchange that ignited the chain of events was a heated confrontation between Masvidal and one of Diaz’s long-time associates, escalating into a full-blown brawl. In a surprising turn of events, Masvidal’s boxing Coach, Jorge Capetillo, was caught in the crossfire of the insane brawl and was also involved in the altercation.
Diaz vs. Masvidal Boxing Match Prediction:
Looking at this rematch that has shifted sports, I do not see the overall result differing from the initial meeting. Masvidal holds evident advantages in speed, power, and timing.
Like many Nate Diaz fights, his cardio will be his most shining attribute as it is a ten-round boxing match. However, Diaz’s problem will be whether or not he’ll make it that late into the fight against such an explosive and ferocious striker like Masvidal.
Similar to the first fight, I expect Diaz’s scar tissue and proneness to facial lacerations to play a massive role in this fight. Once Masvidal is aware of a cut on Diaz’s face, he’ll be sure to stay consistent in targeting the wound.
Diaz will have some moments throughout a long and grueling ten rounds. However, it will not be enough as Masvidal will handily secure a unanimous decision victory.
