Nate Diaz Files $9 Million Dollar Lawsuit Against Fanmio After Boxing Match Against Jorge Masvidal

UFC legend, Nate Diaz, files a 9 million dollar lawsuit after allegedly not being paid the contractual amount listed on his contract for winning his boxing match against Jorge Masvidal.

Nate Diaz vs Fanmio

Diaz is suing the company Fanmio and boxing promoter Solomon Engel for fraud and breach of contract. Diaz is claiming he was paid 1 million dollars upfront and was promised the other 9 million at a later date. However, Solomon Engel stated that the lawsuit was “frivolous” and Nate had already been paid the total amount.

The legal document Nate Diaz’s team posted makes some very outrageous claims if found to be true. In the file, Nate’s legal team states the lengths Engel has gone through not to pay Diaz. One claim states that “Engel went so far as to threaten he might have to declare bankruptcy to avoid paying Diaz what he owed.”

Another claim stated in the document is more outlandish stating, “In a flurry of desperate calls to Diaz’s representatives following the event, Engel despondently groveled that he was going to lose more money than he had anticipated on the event if he paid Diaz what he had promised and that his wife might divorce him because of the financial losses.”

Engel claims that he will be losing money on the event and that he has already paid a “seven million dollar figure” to Nate Diaz , however Engel did not specify the number.

Boxing Promoter Stands by Innocence

According to Solomon Engel’s LinkedIn profile. Fanmio was started almost 7 years ago and has Engel as the soul founder and CEO. Engel has remained relatively quiet on the matter, except for a post that Engel reposted on the site X (formerly known as Twitter). The post was from boxer Amado Fernando Vargas who has fought under Fanmio’s promotion stating “A Lot Of People Talking about @fanmio. They Did a Hell of A Event & Paid me my Money. Much love to Fanmio”

Nate Diaz also went on “X” on July 17 and made a post saying, he was not “suing anybody”. Diaz did not go into detail on what that meant or if he personally wanted to sue Engel and his company. This has lead many people to be confused about the whole situation.

This probably means Nate was not the one who filed for the lawsuit, but instead was his team.

As most fans of the UFC know, Nate Diaz is a man of few words and does not like wasting his time. He is the definition of a true fighter and has never been a media sweetheart and has been quite the opposite of one in his career.

Nate Diaz’s Future

This was Nate’s second boxing match. The first one was a loss to celebrity boxer Jake Paul back in 2023. Nate won against Jorge Masvidal in a 10-round decision. Diaz has stated in an interview with Matt Barnes on the All the Smoke Podcast that he plans to box make a lot of money and then return to the UFC to take the 170 title.
