Macklemore Growing Up ft. Ed Sheeran

Macklemore Releases New Song ‘Growing Up’ with Ed Sheeran

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis have been quiet this past year but fans of the Northwest emcee and producer finally have something new to listen to. The Ed Sheeran assisted ‘Growing Up’ finds Macklemore rapping to his new child over a low key hip-hop instrumental that features plenty of live instruments that Ryan Lewis is known to use (That live bass and horn sound so sweet don’t they?).

This track has that 2006 Macklemore vibe to it and for Mack to reach the pop heights he did last year and come back with a record like this, with a little Ed Sheeran sprinkled on for the ‘pop’ appeal, is huge. Check out Macklemore Growing Up:

Macklemore had this to announce as well

Our daughter, Sloane Ava Simone Haggerty was born 2 months ago on May 29th. There is nothing like the joy and happiness that comes from bringing a baby into this universe. She has filled my heart in ways that I never knew were possible. She is the love of my life. This song is for her.

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis burst onto the music scene with a creative energy that reshaped independent hip-hop. The Seattle-based duo built their empire without a major label, crafting songs that blended catchy hooks with socially conscious lyrics. Their breakout single “Thrift Shop” became a global anthem, mixing humor and commentary on consumer culture, while “Same Love” stood as a bold statement supporting marriage equality. Their 2012 album The Heist won multiple Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist and Best Rap Album, solidifying their reputation as pioneers who blurred the lines between hip-hop, pop, and activism.

Ryan Lewis’ production brought cinematic depth to Macklemore’s sharp storytelling, creating music that felt both intimate and arena-ready. From the horn-driven bounce of “Can’t Hold Us” to the reflective tone of “Starting Over,” their partnership thrived on contrast—Lewis’ sleek, layered sound design amplifying Macklemore’s raw honesty. Together, they proved that independent artistry could reach mainstream heights without sacrificing authenticity or message. Even as their paths diverged in later years, their legacy as one of the most influential creative duos of the 2010s remains intact.

Ed Sheeran, meanwhile, carved his lane as one of the most successful singer-songwriters of his generation. Blending acoustic soul, pop sensibility, and hip-hop-inspired rhythm, Sheeran’s catalog bridges genres and emotions seamlessly. From the heartfelt ballad “Thinking Out Loud” to the upbeat energy of “Shape of You,” his versatility has earned him a devoted global audience. He’s also collaborated with a wide range of artists—including Taylor Swift, Eminem, and even Macklemore and Ryan Lewis—showing his adaptability across styles. Sheeran’s rise from street performer to stadium headliner embodies the modern DIY artist’s dream, built on authenticity, consistency, and a deep connection to storytelling through song.

This is a track you do not want to miss out on listening to.
