Here at Respect My Region we are starting a new series called Local Music Wednesday. This week, we are highlighting rising artists in the Seattle area that we have been watching grow over the last year or more.
We have a list of great artists including the likes of Highway, Travis Thompson, Maika Million, 2000Baby, Mafi D, Quiccsavo, Zay $takin and more. Local Music Wednesday on RMR TV – Season 1 Episode 1
Highway
To start off our Local Music Wednesday list, we have included the local rapper Highway. Born and raised in Seattle, Highway has been taking the local scene by storm with his melodic flow. He also, co-produces all of his tracks. He started making music in High School, but started growing in the local scene in 2019.
In 2020, he started to explode in the SoundCloud scene with his EP IVY. This year he has released multiple singles including “on dat shit,” “Bad Time,” “Jet” and “Sin City.” We are going to be hearing a lot from him in the future and he is definitely an artist to watch out for.
Travis Thompson
Another artist we have been watching is Travis Thompson. He released his newest record “Wolves & White T’s” this past week. The album is already getting a lot of streams. Since the release, it has been streamed over 500,000 times. The record contains a track that features Logic titled “81.” It’s an awesome tune and should take their careers to the next level.
Maika Million
Our next artist is local rapper Maika Million. He has so far released multiple albums including, Big Ave, Big Ape, Mr. Aye, Aye Ouu, Top Hat, and Art of War. He is currently signed to Black Market Records and Rainer Ave Musik. His highest streamed track is “Non Chalant,” which has acquired over 50,000 streams. He is making great tracks and we will definitely continue to hear more from him.
2000Baby
2000Baby is also making a name for himself in the local scene. He is described as a Latin Urbano artist, he has been releasing albums consistently for the past few years. His most recent album, released in 2022, is titled “The Remixes Volume 3.” We have been following 2000Baby here on RMR for quite a while. His streams have been steadily growing and his highest streamed track “Cream” has over 120,000 streams.
Mafi D
Continuing on, our next artist is Mafi D. Self-described as a Seattle independent artist, Mafi D has been releasing some absolutely great music since 2017. He has so far released a bunch of singles and one full album 1522 in 2022. The album is stocked full of great tracks and definitely deserves your ears.
Quicc Savo
Next up on City Spotlight is Quicc Savo. Quicc Savo has also been making a name for himself in the local scene recently. As well as creating great music, he is also a videographer and photographer in the Seattle area. He first started releasing music in 2016, and has since created a huge catalog for himself. He has released eight albums so far and many singles and EPs.
Zay $takin
Seattle rapper Zay $takin has also been delivering a lot of tracks recently. This week he released a new track “Shopping Spree.” He currently has about 2,000 monthly listeners and he is definitely going to continue to grow.
Treflii
Treflii is another really cool Seattle artist who is up and coming in the rap scene. He has a tight flow but also raps over some really cool dance inspired beats. He has been consistently releasing music for a while and promoting it with some great YouTube and Instagram videos. Treflii is set to tour later this year and it should be a great show. He is totally worth checking out.
Dmann
To end the first episode of City Spotlight, we included Dmann. Up and coming local rapper, Dmann has released a recent song with Treflli titled “Cold Hearted” which we have been listening to over here at RMR. It’s overall a great collaboration and Dmann is another artist that we will be continuing to watch here at Respect My Region.
