Lizzo has had a disastrous week as three of her former dancers made allegations of sexual harassment against her, accusing the 35-year-old of creating a hostile work environment. They subsequently filed a lawsuit, following which more and more associates of the “About Damn Time” singer have come forward to bolster the initial claims about her.
Lizzo Denies Allegations Against Her
On August 3, Lizzo released a statement on her Instagram denying everything that has been said, though she failed to address anything specifically.
“These last few days have been gut wrenchingly difficult and overwhelmingly disappointing,” she began. “My work ethic, morals and respectfulness have been questioned. My character has been criticized. Usually I choose not to respond to false allegations but these are as unbelievable as they sound and too outrageous to not be addressed.”
She added, “These sensationalized stories are coming from former employees who have already publicly admitted that they were told their behavior on tour was inappropriate and unprofessional.”
Lizzo proceeded to emphasize her work ethic and dedication to music, but avoided talking about what her former employees said about her behavior, even as more and more continue to come forward and energize each other’s assertions.
She concluded, “I’m hurt but I will not let the good work I’ve done in the world be overshadowed by this. I want to thank everyone who has reached out in support to lift me up during this difficult time.”

Lizzo Documentary Drama Unfolds
A day prior to the release of her unofficial defense, filmmakers who worked on Lizzo’s documentary also took to social media to talk about the diva’s unacceptable behavior toward those who work for and with her.
“She is a narcissistic bully and has built her brand off of lies. was excited to support and protect a Black woman through the documentary process but quickly learned her image and ‘message’ was a curated façade,” wrote Sophia Nahli Allison, who worked with Lizzo for only two weeks in 2019 before quitting.
Charlene Sanchez, who was on the same team as Allison, co-signed her ex-colleague’s statement, saying, “This is all true [melted emoji] I had to vent to so many of my friends about it. It was such a small crew and the experience of working with Lizzo was a nightmare.”
