The supremely dope, Livt, recently dropped her Black Girl Unbothered EP, a collection of songs showcasing the vast range of talent that she holds. It’s difficult for me to find the words to address the brilliance of this EP. Every single second of it captures my attention, even the features, and that production? Forget about it. I melted the moment I heard that bass slap out those first four notes.
So where to even begin? Well, the L is for her lack of patience, no time for anybody who be on that fake shit. And the I, well see, she’s her only competition, bitch, you pipe down and to this queen you will be listenin’. And the V, now, she gets vindictive about her business. If the money don’t talk, she’ll be outtie with the quickness. And the T, see, she’s eating off of her daddy’s last name and if it costs to be the boss, well then you owe her some change.
With an air of confidence, Livt taps into multiple sides of herself over the course of the seven-track EP. Tracks like, “Date Night” and “4evr” show her romantic side, “Brown skin on silk. Please be my thrill. You are my summer dream. Our love ain’t no joke. They don’t want this smoke. I promise you’re all I need.” Whereas tracks like the opener, “Unbothered,” are dripping with the essence of a strong, independent, boss ass babe. “Just let ‘em know you walk that walk and let ‘em know you talk that talk. You better say you want that smoke and when them n- try and front, you better flaunt that glow.”
