It’s not often, or maybe even ever, that you hear of a former WWE star paving their path in the music industry. But with music ingrained in his blood, Lio Rush, also known as just Lio, finds himself as comfortable a spot in hip-hop as he does in the ring. The son of nominated gospel duo Lionel and Leslie Green, Lio’s talent and love for music comes naturally.
Lio Blends Hip-Hop, R&B, and Pop
Creating a cocktail of hip-hop, R&B, and pop, Lio brings a soulful trap sound with emotional vocals and 90’s inspired hip-hop beats. His melodic vocals aloft hip-hop rhythms compare to artists like PARTYNEXTDOOR and Post Malone, but with his own personal tang. Between his flow and lyrics, Lio’s music is equally captivating and emotional.
Though you’ll hear mostly melodic vocals from the Los Angeles-based artist in his latest music, you’ll also find harder rap throughout his discography, like in “Best Thing Out.” Additionally, in multiple of his songs, including “Feeling Like,” he showcases both flows. His style may vary throughout, but it proves emotion-provoking every time.
Lio has been releasing music since 2019 and quickly garnered the attention of hip-hop fans across the United States. His first album 11:11 has amassed hundreds of thousands of streams, setting a solid foundation for his music career. In 2020, he released his second studio album, Ever After. The 14-track album went on to do even better than his debut album. In fact, the bonus track “I Wonder” is his top song. Additionally in 2021, he released The Final Match, collaborating with various emerging artists.
“Not Found” by Lio
Now in 2021, the rapper/wrestler has released an EP titled “Not Found.” The five-track project proves that the 25-year-old artist only continues to improve and solidify his mark in the music industry. Every track on “Not Found” is capable and likely to make you feel some sort of way.
Add Lio to your radar, and playlist, and he won’t disappoint. We’re excited to see what comes next from the budding artist.
